State Issue 1
Establishes the 15-member Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission, with even representation among Republicans, Democrats and independent voters to be chosen by a bipartisan screening panel comprising two retired judges from the two major political parties. Members of the commission may not be current elected officials, candidates, party officials or contractors, or lobbyists; a member of their staffs; or have immediate family members who are. The measure also defines redistricting requirements intended to prevent the commission from creating districts that disproportionately favor one party over another.
