The 3-week outlook for the Athens West Union Street Improvements project will be as follows:
- This week, the pipe crew will continue installing the 12-inch ductile iron pipe from the intersection of Jefferson and the fairgrounds entrance towards Shafer Street. Estimated installation time is 3 weeks, dependent on weather, underground utilities, and unknown issues that may be encountered.
- The second crew is working on service line tie-ins, with planned work from the Athens County Job and Family Services building moving towards Herrold Avenue at the end of the 3-week installation period.
Access to local business entrances are open, with business open signs being installed.
Traffic is one way (eastbound) from the SR 56/682 Intersection at West Union to the O’Bleness Hospital Entrance. Herrold Avenue is open to two-way traffic for the next two weeks.
Motorists are advised to follow all posted signs and traffic patterns for public safety.
