Roger William Hawk

ATHENS- Roger William Hawk, 86, of Athens, met his Lord and Savior on November 14, 2023, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Athens, Ohio on March 15, 1937.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ellen (Porter) Hawk, his parents Herbert and Freda Hawk, and a brother Emerson Hawk.

He is survived by his children Suzanne (Mark) Guda of Athens, Sheryl Hawk of Lancaster, Ronald Hawk of Athens, and Matthew Hawk of Albany.  He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Roger was a graduate of Shade High School and Columbus Business College.  After graduation, he was an accountant for Borden’s before becoming the owner and manager of the KOA Campground in Logan, Ohio.  Later in life, he served as an Athens County Lodi Township Trustee for 20 years.

Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed music and played the banjo in the local group Lodi Against The World.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Laurels and Ohio Health Hospice for the loving care given to him in his final days on earth.  

Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday, November 19th from 2:00 to 4:00 at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home in Athens.  A service will be held on Monday, November 20th at the Shade Community Center, Shade, Ohio.  Prior to the service, visitation will begin at 12:00 with the service to begin at 1:00.  Interment will follow at Clark’s Chapel Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, P.O.
