Dog of the Week: Duff

,

DUFF, 1-22-24, male boxer mix, 1yr, 3mos, 51.8#, FOUND on First St., The Plains.

Duff, at just a year old, was found wandering alone on a cold day in January. Maybe he was searching for his family? No one came to claim him and now he is searching for a new family.

Duff’s tough start in life is evident in his shelter demeanor. He is desperate to be with someone and is so excited when you stop by his kennel. After long nights on his own, he cries out with the saddest pleas. A volunteer remarked that he sounds as if he is dying when he cries. Duff is physically healthy, but he does appear to be dying for affection, companionship, and reassurance.

Duff is always eager to get outside with volunteers and has interacted very well with female dogs on companion walks. In the play yards, he will entertain himself and throw toys and then happily chase them. Duff is proof that dogs can be incredibly resilient even with early trauma. He wants nothing more than to just be a dog with a family to love and entertain with his goofiness.
