CHAUNCEY- Donald “Keith” Douglas, Jr., age 68, of Chauncey, passed away, Thursday morning, April 11, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic after an extended illness. Born March 15, 1956 in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Donald K. Douglas, Sr. and Carol Verity Douglas.
A 1974 graduate of Athens High School, he retired after 35 years of service from Carpenter’s Union Local 200. He had also been employed with the Finisher’s Union. He was a member and Past Master of Constitution Lodge 426 F&AM, New Marshfield and Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM, Athens. He was also a member of the Athens York Rites Bodies, Shade United Methodist Church and Gideon’s International. He enjoyed repairing and showing antique cars, attending many car shows. He was a NASCAR racing fan, with Richard Petty being his favorite.
Donald Keith is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Scott Douglas; a daughter, Dawn (J.R.) McKee of New Marshfield; two sons, Donald (Dee) Douglas III of The Plains and Brian Keith (Amanda) Douglas of Chauncey; eight grandchildren, Jesse McKee, Brittany Douglas, Zach Douglas, Dallas Shafer, Austin Shafer, Collin Shafer, Carissa (Steve) Taggart and Ashley Forsythe; two great grandchildren, Bristol Taggart and Kyler Forsythe; a sister, Pam Dellatezza of North Carolina; a brother, Steve (Susan) Douglas of Athens; his mother in law, Wanda Creamer of Stewart; a special aunt, Lucy Hawk of Athens and his pet companion, Oscar. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Beside his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Timothy A. Douglas. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor Debra Brookins officiating. Friends may call Monday 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Gideon’s International, Athens Camp will conduct services and Masonic Rites will be conducted both on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
