Dottie, 3-4-24, female beagle mix, 11y8m, 20#, OWNER PASSED, came in from High St., Nelsonville.

Just look at this adorable, old hound. Well, Dottie doesn’t exactly feel her age which is nearly 12 years young. Dottie came into the shelter at the beginning of March after her owner passed. The chihuahua she came in with was rescued by a partner organization, but Dottie has not had the same luck.
Dottie’s favorite pastimes include going for walks, snoozing the day away, and telling her foster mom that she’s hungry. She has the most adorable begging stance where she lays one shoulder on the ground with her butt in the air until you give her everything she wants. Dottie enjoys the company of other dogs but would do best in a household without young children. Dottie had a severe ear infection when she came into the shelter that required surgery. She has healed now but understandably needs people to be careful when touching her ears.
Dottie is really the perfect mix—she can be your walking partner and she also knows how to relax and entertain herself. If this sounds about your speed, call the Athens County Dog Shelter to meet Dottie.
If you can’t adopt, consider fostering. You can fill out our foster application at fosdathens.com/foster
