ATHENS- William F. “Bill” Poston, age 90, of Athens, passed away Sunday April 14, 2024 at Christ Hospital Hospice, Cincinnati. Born Sept. 25, 1933 in Canaanville, OH, he was the son of the late Elmer F. Poston and Mearl Hawk Poston.
A 1951 graduate of Athens High School, he attended Ohio University. He was purchasing agent for Lawhead Press, retiring after 25 years of service. He attended The Plains United Methodist Church and was a member of the Athens First United Methodist Church. He was a 54-year member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM of Athens. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Athens County Shrine Club, and Elks Lodge 973 BPOE.
Bill is survived by two daughters, Lisa Poston-Evans and her husband Jim of Athens and Lori Poston of Cincinnati; three grandchildren that lovingly called Bill, “Boppy,” Shay and Seth Brooks, and Meghan Schott; his loyal four-legged companion Jasper, and a brother, Frank Poston of Woodstock, GA.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death and now reunited with his wife of 49 years, Betty E. Stiles Poston, who entered eternal rest in 2010; a brother Paul Poston, and an infant sister. A family graveside service will be held Friday April 26th at 11:00 a.m. at West Union St. Cemetery, Athens, with Rev. Robbie Scott officiating. Paramuthia Lodge will conduct Masonic Rites at the cemetery.
