Polluting state senator is not a good representative for SE Ohio

To the editor:

Athens area residents please be advised – our current state senator is a significant polluter. According to the Columbus Dispatch, injection wells owned by 30th District Senator Brian Chavez for years leached brine underground in Noble County, miles past where it was permitted.

On May 13, the Dispatch reported that on five occasions since 2010 the often-toxic liquid burst to the surface and in one instance the eruption contaminated a stream, killed wildlife and required a $1.3 million state cleanup effort.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources attributes the leaks to one of Chavez’s multiple oil and gas companies.

This is not the kind of person I want to represent me in Columbus.  I will be voting for Ari Faber.
