COOLVILLE- Kenneth “Kenny” Young, 82, of Coolville, OH, passed away peacefully on July 17th, surrounded by loved ones, after an extended battle with cancer. Born on April 22, 1942 in Athens, Ohio, he was the son of the late Albert & Anita Young.
He was a 1961 graduate of Albany High School, followed by serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1964. Kenny worked for GTE for 30 years and retired in 1993. He had a second career as a Master Electrician and worked with Dick Lyons Electric, Twin Oaks Refrigeration, and also had his own business, Young Electric, until he retired in 2014.
He was a loving husband and provider to his wife of 46 years, Judy (Kennard) Young, and a devoted, proud, supportive dad to four daughters: Christy (Jon) Mosier of Newcomerstown, Susanne (Ed) Castle of Guysville, Natalie (David Howie) Young of Pensacola, FL, and Carrie (Kevin) Hare of Brentwood, TN. He so loved, and was so proud, of his four grandchildren: Jordan (Ben Adams) Castle of Guysville, Cadet Abbie Hare of West Point, NY, Aidan Hare and Harper Hare of Brentwood, TN. He is survived by his sisters, Gail Gordon of Sequim, WA and Andrea Hacker of Albany, along with five nieces and two nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his younger brother, Kevin Young of Albany.
At Kenny’s request, a private memorial was held, officiated by Pastor David Roach at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
