The Athens Fire Department will flush and test hydrants on East State Street on Wednesday, July 31, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. You may experience discolored water due to iron sediment stirred up from increased flow, but the water remains safe. No boil order will be issued for hydrant flushing, but the city recommends you do not wash laundry during this time.
