Dianna F. “Toots” Harper

Dianna F. “Toots” Harper, 78 of Glouster passed away Wednesday July 31, 2024, at her residence.   Born December 14, 1945, in Glouster, she was the daughter of the late Lowell J. and Opal E. Lunsford Russell.

“We lost an amazing, goofy, wise and loving person.  Every time us grandkids needed someone; she was there.  She has taught us so much in life, especially how to enjoy it.  We always knew if we were having a bad day, grandma’s was the place to go.  She would spend her time in the garden with her green thumb, crocheting, putting together puzzles, reading a book, making sock monkeys for her grandchildren, and sitting on the porch enjoying the view. She also had a love for every type of animal.  We always called her “our own personal veterinarian” because she always knew the answer to every animal problem.  We’re so blessed to have known her, and it is even more of a blessing to be a part of her family.  Rest in peace Dianna “Toots,” we love you.”

Dianna was an active member of the Bishopville Food Pantry, she was a retiree of Ohio University, and an avid Eagles member.

She is survived by a son, Mike (Tracy) Harper of Glouster; a daughter, Missy (Scott Barrows) Harper of Coolville; grandchildren, Michael (Alania) Harper, Emily (AJ) Marks, Hannah (Bernard) Roell, Chelsie (Russell) Ogle, Christy Wright, and Matt (Bethany) Wright; great grandchildren, Braxton, Bristol, Jaxon, Silas, Chase, Roman, Olivia, Bernard, Penelope, Lane and McKenna; a sister, Monna (Jim) Taylor of Glouster; a sister-in-law, Elanore Russell of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney L. “Buck” Harper; a son, Kenneth Harper; two brothers, Kenny and Richard Russell; and a sister, Barbara Walker.
