Gary W. Stufflebean, 81 of Glouster passed away Wednesday October 2, 2024, at Mount Carmel East, Columbus. Born July 3, 1943, in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Maloney Stufflebean. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Gary was previously employed by Peabody Coal Company and later retired from Maiden and Jenkins Construction Company. He was a lifetime member of the Jacksonville V.F.W. He was a former member of the Jacksonville and Corning Eagles, the Southeastern Ohio Bass Club, and the Athens Sportsman’s Club. Gary was an avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed Quarter Horses, bass fishing, and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Joanna Richards Stufflebean; his children and grandchildren, Angela (Donna Jenkins) Stufflebean, Paula (Tim) Maiden and their children, Brandon, Whitney, and Kaytlin, Darcy (Benny) Mays and their children, Zachary, Dakota, and Chelsie, Tracy (Mike) Chapman and their children, Michael and Mason; great grandchildren, Gwenyth, Collins, Etta, and Tripp Maiden, and Carter Chapman; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews; and his constant companion, his dog Diamond.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Larry “Lynn”.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday October 7, 2024, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Glouster with Father Jeremiah Hahn officiating. A visitation will take place on Sunday at the church from 2 to 6 p.m. The family suggests that in honor of Gary, visitors should dress comfortably or wear attire of Ohio State or the college of your choice.
