ATHENS- Donna L. Bruce, 81, of Athens died early Saturday morning, October 5, 2024 at her home. Born September 4, 1943 in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Channell and Helen M. Bretz Channell.
A 1961 graduate of The Plains High School, she was employed for over 39 years as an administrative assistant at Ohio University. She was a member of Athens Senior Club and enjoyed line dancing with the “Silver Spurs”.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Shannon L. Bruce (Daniel Sater) of Athens; a son, Shaun M. Bruce of Cincinnati; a brother in law, James Warren; nieces and nephews, Amber (Dana) Kern, Dennis Channell, Chad Hutchins, Jay (Parrie) Warren, Matthew (Susan) Simms, and Mallory Simms.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Garry E. Bruce, who died January 6, 2011; her brother and sister in law, Dana & Deanna Channell; and two sisters in law, Nancy Warren and Mary Ann Simms.
Per Donna’s request a graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville with Rev. James officiating.
