General announcements
- Athens project bids: The City of Athens is accepting sealed bids for construction of a new submersible wastewater lift station, gravity sanitary sewer and force main. The engineer’s estimate for the project is $1.25 million. Bids will be accepted until 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, when they will be publicly opened and read.
- Nelsonville tax letters: The Regional Income Tax Agency has mailed approximately 923 nonfiler letters to Nelsonville taxpayers who have not filed a municipal income tax return. Returns or exemptions can be filed online or mailed to RITA, Attn: Compliance Department 198, Regional Income Tax Agency, PO Box 470538, Broadview Heights OH 44157-3510.
Traffic advisories
Athens
- West Union Street: Two-way traffic is open from the bridge at SR 682 to Jefferson Street and from Shafer Street to Hospital Drive. Herrold Avenue also is two-way. Jefferson Street to Hospital Drive is one way eastbound (towards Uptown), with work extending past the gas station to Seaman’s. Business entrances will experience temporary closures. Athens County Engineer
- Paving schedule: McKee Paving is schedule to pave Washington Road (CR 13) Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Wednesday, Oct. 9. Baker Road (CR 10) is scheduled to be paved from the intersection with Radford Road (CR 19) on Monday, Oct. 21. Roads will be reduced to one lane during work; expect delays.
- Other work: County crews will be leveling Rhoric Road (CR 100) and clearing brush and trees on Allison Road (Waterloo Twp. 471).
Ohio Department of Transportation
- SR 690 landslide repair: Between Dutch Creek Road (CR 34) and SR 550. One-lane traffic will be maintained with temporary signals. Expected completion: Nov. 1.
- Albany traffic signal replacement: U.S. 50 at Washington Road/Meadowbrook Road in Albany. Short-term lane closures with flaggers. Expected completion: Nov. 1.
- SR 144 slope stabilization (2): One lane closed between Mountain Bell Road and SR 7; traffic maintained with temporary signals. Expected completion: Nov. 1. One lane closed between Jewell Hollow Road and Bethany Ridge Road; traffic maintained with temporary signals. Expected completion: Nov. 15.
