ATHENS- Ballard “Scott” Thacker, age 49, of Athens died Monday evening, October 7, 2024 at his home. Born February 26, 1975 in Athens, he was the son of the late Ballard Thacker and Linda K. Coleman Thacker.
A graduate of Vinton County High School he was a truck mechanic. He enjoyed artistic painting, fishing, baking and cooking for his family.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Cara Thacker of McArthur; five sisters, Mary Kay (Tom Spurling) Booth of Wilkesville, Kathy Jo (Bryn) Spanswick of the United Kingdom, Connie Ann (Freddie) McDaniel of Vinton County, Amanda (Brad) Conley of Oak Hill and Misty Dawn (Ray Rupe) Prater of Albany; also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Beside his parents he is preceded in death by twin grandchildren, Emerson Baker and Dillon Baker; and a nephew, Dakota Williams.
The family extended a special thank you to niece, Kera Spriggs, for always being there when Scott called.
