Jerry P. Taylor

Jerry P. Taylor (Big Jer), age 84, died peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024.  Jerry of Jacksonville, Ohio, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, was born in Buffalo, Ohio, on July 22, 1940, to the late Gus and Dorothy Taylor. He graduated from Crooksville High School in 1958. Upon graduation, he served four years in the United States Navy. After the service, Jerry dedicated over 30 years to F&R Lazarus as Director of Facilities. Most importantly, Jerry shared 62 years of pure marital bliss with his wife Sue (Jo) Taylor. They lived an adventurous life, spending many years seeing America together. He enjoyed restoring hot rods and Corvettes, camping, traveling, and riding his Harley with his wife, children, and friends, racking up over half a million miles.

Jerry was ‘Dad’ to three wonderful children: Terri, Sam, and Jer (Kim). He was a fun-loving ‘Pap’ to Terri’s children, Samantha (Leon), Nick, and Heath (Michelle); Sam’s children, Nick (Gaby), Allie (Mike), Morgan, and Kate; Jer’s (Kim) children, Macey (Dylan), Terri (Brady), Madylin, Emma, and Jesse; and many more great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in Death by his father (Gus) and mother (Dorothy); sisters, Mona and Belva (John); and brother Jackie. 

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday October 19, 2024 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Rick Seiter officiating.  Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster where there will be a military graveside service conducted by the United States Navy and the Combined Color Guard Unit.  A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.  Contributions can be made in Jerry’s memory to the Trimble Textbook and Supplies Foundation, c/o Sandy Gyure, PO Box 187, Glouster, Ohio 45732 or Tunnels to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd. Staten Island, New York 10306.  A message of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting the tribute wall at www.morrisonfc.com.
