Rick Rolston: Husband, Dad, Papaw, friend and leader to so many, went home to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday October 13, 2024 at 7:03pm.
Born October 1, 1952, he is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Penney (Brown) Rolston.
Children: Jaime (Rolston) Lutz , Andrea (Jimmy) Shonborn and Lance and (Michelle) Rolston;
Grandkiddos: Derrick Welsh, Jerricka Welsh, Ally Welsh, Bryana Lutz, Hunter (McKayla) Shonborn, Parker Shonborn, Reagan Shonborn, Kash Ousley, Emery Rolston, Paisley Rolston, Justin Mullen and Cora Fellure.
Sisters: Diane (Richard) Hampton, Darlene (Kerri) Grant, Karla (Don) Ritchey and Sister-in-law Jennifer Rolston.
With family being of upmost importance in his life, he was blessed with several nieces and nephews and even more great nieces and nephews.
Rick was proceeded in death by his loving mother, Mary Rose Rolston, brother Steve Rolston, nephew Tyler Rolston and Father David Rolston.
Rick was an educator, spending his career as a Superintendent, Principal, Teacher, and coach. He received his BA degree from Bluffton College, his master’s from The University of Dayton, and his Doctorate from The University of Sarasota, thus receiving the nickname “Doc”! He was known to be a sports enthusiast loving his THE Ohio State Buckeyes, New York Yankees and Cleveland Browns but most importantly, Rick was a faithful follower and servant of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in memory of him to the Alexander Future Foundation (PO Box 204 Albany, Ohio 45710) to which Rick was a founding member.
A celebration of Rick’s incredible journey of life here on Earth will be celebrated Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Athens Church of Christ (785 West Union Street) where he was a member, elder and leader. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 P.M., with a Celebration of Life service following at 4:00 P.M.
