On Oct. 19, 2024, 10 high school bands came to Nelsonville-York’s Boston Field to compete for awards, bragging rights and a chance to make it to state competition.

Starting off the Buckeye Classic with the National Anthem sung by Mikaela Higgins The Chillicothe High School captain salutes to begin their performance Starting off strong with some melodic sounds from the Mellophone and cornets Athens High School takes the field repping green and gold In the pit, the sweet sounds of the xylophone echoed Reynoldsburg High School came out for a Gatsby-themed show! “No matter – tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby Here comes Grove City High School! He stand above the band and plays beautiful sounds for the crowd. Berne Union takes the stage… or the ship? The dress of the siren flows as she dances to the solo Locked and loaded, ready to perform! Up next… Westerville South! Who are the faces behind the mask? A touch of mystery with the music. For just a moment, Dublin Scioto High School stopped time. With uniforms as green as the grass on the field, they put all their effort into their music. The deep sound of the drums pounding could be heard far into the crowd. After the judges break, it was Trimble’s time to shine. With silver tomcats on their hats, they are prepared to blow you away. Belpre High School is bringing it on! Belpre is focused and ready to play some great music. Ah, the wonderful sound of trumpets and mellophone Nelsonville-York High School begins by pointing at their captain before their performance starts. With white feather hats and their hands on their instruments, they began. And that’s a wrap! What a great way to end the show.
