John Williams

GLOUSTER, Ohio –– John J. “Duck” Williams, 94, of Glouster passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Born November 8, 1930, in Millfield, he was the son of the late John W. and Mary McConaha Williams. He was formerly employed by Ludowici Roof Tile Plant in New Lexington and later retired from Elliott’s Lumber Company in McConnelsville. Duck enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.

He is survived by a son, John W. (Ida) Williams, and daughters, Esther (Bill Spencer) Williams, Darlene Williams, and Brenda (Bob) Arnold, all of Glouster; grandchildren, Tonya Richards, D.J. (Wendy) Brooks, David (Heather) Richards, Dusty (Shawn Turley) Waldeck, Susan Guthrie, Randy (Kayla Jenkins) Waldeck, Sondra Brooks, Ryan (Ashley) DeGarmore, Jake (Miranda Dykes) DeGarmore, Brenda (Jack) Rusell, Angie (Bill) Russell, Sandy Keaton, Julie (Brian) Howard; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Limo of Glouster; two brothers, Daniel (Pat) McKee and Earl McKee, both of Glouster; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lafollette and Alice Ronk, both of Glouster; brother-in-law, Jim Giroski of Glouster; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Dixon Williams; daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and David Richards, and Susan and Bruce DeGarmore; a grandson, John Richards; sisters, Violet Buchman and Garnet Richards; and brothers, Claude Williams and Melvin “Moose” McKee.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Bishopville Church of Christ with Jon Hanning officiating. Interment will be in the Glouster Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
