
THE PLAINS, Ohio –– Carl M. “Bolie” Michael, 88, died on Friday, December 27, 2024 at The Lindley Inn, The Plains. Born July 1,1936 in Mentor, he was the son of the late Carl Michael and Maude Thorne Michael.
He was a 1954 graduate of The Plains High School. He served for 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in England, California, Ohio, Maine, Thailand and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his Air Force service, he was a mail carrier for 18 years with the U.S. Post Office in Wichita Falls, Texas. He returned to The Plains in 2022.
Carl is survived by his loving caregivers, a sister, Julia Michael Scott and her husband Robert Scott of The Plains and a nephew, Anthony Davis of Nelsonville. He is also survived by a sister, Karen Achison of The Plains; a brother, Blaine “Doc” (Linda) Michael of The Plains; a sister in law, Mary Lee Michael of The Plains; a sister in law and brother in law, Jane and Jonathan Flowers of Nelsonville. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and three great, great nephews.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ladonna Flowers Michael who died in 2023; a son, Michael G. Michael who died in 1987; a sister and brother in law, Georgia and Paul Kail; two brothers and sisters in law, Darius and Judy Michael, Bob and Judy Michael; and a brother, Max Michael.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. David Roach officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Military rites will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard.
