ATHENS- With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charlotte Ann Finsterwald–Caudill, who left this world on the morning of February 15, 2025, at the age of 74 with her two loving daughters by her side.
Charlotte was born on June 26, 1950, in Athens, Ohio, where she spent her early years and graduated from Athens High School. She pursued her passion for helping others, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University and later a Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing from The Ohio State University.
For 40 years, Charlotte dedicated herself to the nursing profession, holding various roles, including the opening Director of Pine Hills Continuing Care Center. However, she found her greatest fulfillment as a nursing instructor, guiding and mentoring future generations of nurses with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering dedication. She cherished the relationships she built with her students and took great pride in their success.
Charlotte had a lifelong love of reading, a deep fascination with World War II history, and in recent years, a newfound appreciation for Western movies. A talented artist with an eye for interior design, she found joy in creativity and beauty. But above all, Charlotte’s greatest love was for her family. She was a devoted mother, a beloved sister, an adored aunt, and a cherished friend to many. Her warmth and ability to connect with others turned strangers into lifelong friends.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Lori and Natalie Dodson; her sister, Susan Finsterwald-Bloemer; her sister-in-law, Virginia Finsterwald; her nephew, Josh Maiden; her nieces, Julie (Byron) Maiden-Gonzalez, Emily (Wes) Finsterwald-Filipow, and Rachel (Zac) Finsterwald-Chiki; and her beloved family pets, Lucy and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. and Mary A. Finsterwald, and her brother, Robert W. Finsterwald.
Charlotte’s legacy of love, dedication, and compassion will live on in the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00.p.m. and the Funeral Service will be on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio.
