Dow F. Sanders

Dow F. Sanders, 91 of Glouster, passed away Thursday February 27, 2025, at the Pickering House in Lancaster.  Born March 11, 1933, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Fred and Mabel Winniford McPeak Sanders. 

He was an Army veteran during the Korean War era, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Ohio University. Dow engaged in mechanical activities, such as restoring his 1920 Model T Ford. He also had an interest in gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren who called him “Papa Dow”.

He is survived by daughters, Mary Beth (Jeff) Coffman, Amy (Rocky) Exline, and Jane Dixon, all of Glouster; grandchildren, Valerie (Jonathan) Kasler, Katie Coffman, Erica (Jon Rees)Exline, Megan (Patrick) Tegge, Heather (Michael) Kaal, Matthew (Crystal) Dixon, and Joel (Katie Owen) Dixon; and great grandchildren, Olivia and Jillian Kasler, Cooper and Parker Kaal, Penelope “Poppy” Tegge, Wyatt and Silas Dixon, and baby boy Kaal arriving soon.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy L. Johnson Sanders; an infant daughter, Teresa Sanders; and brothers, Ralph, Chester, Jack, Billy, and Richard Sanders.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday March 4, 2025, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Rocky Exline officiating.  Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield with a military graveside service conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit and the United States Army.  A visitation will take place on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  Contributions can be made to Fairhope Hospice, 282 Sells Rd.
