ATHENS, Ohio –– Sharon R. Lunsford, 68, of Jacksonville, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at The Laurels in Athens. She was born April 12, 1956, to the late Elmo and Donna Jean Carrigan Lunsford. She was employed with Community Action for several years in Early Childhood Development and was the previous owner of the Shingle Inn in Glouster. She was a member of both the Jacksonville VFW and Jacksonville Eagles #1034, and enjoyed camping, gardening, and salmon fishing in Michigan. But mostly she cherished spending time with her grandson Cameron.
She is survived by her husband James Auer of Jacksonville; her son Derek Gyure of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter Deanna Smith of Columbus; her grandson Cameron Gyure; two step grandsons Colin Smith and Casey Smith; a brother Dave (Nancy) Lunsford of Florida; sisters Judy (Clyde) Routt of Delaware and Sandy (Mark) Nott of Glouster; a sister-in-law Robin Lunsford of Glouster; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Lunsford.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville, with Jerry Marang officiating. Interment will be in the Dew Cemetery.
