Election letter deadline: The last day to submit letters to the editor to the Athens County Independent regarding people or issues on the May 6 ballot is Tuesday, April 15.

- Athens County Auditor: Vendor license application fee increase effective April 9; Southeast Ohio Tax Relief Briefing public meeting this Thursday March 27, at the Athens Community Center, located at 701 E. State St. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and speakers at 11 a.m.
- Chauncey streetlight project: Please notify the Village of Chauncey about issues with streetlights in the community by calling 740-797-2031. You also can identify problem streetlights on the village’s website or report them directly to AEP.
- OhioMeansJobs relocation: Beginning Monday, March 31, OhioMeansJobs Athens County will relocate from West Union Street in Athens to 10 W. Washington St., Nelsonville. Call 740-797-1405 with questions.
- Audits: Federal-Hocking Local School District, Aug. 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024; Trimble Local School District, July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
- Sealed bid sale: The Southeast Ohio Recycling Terminal council of governments is accepting sealed bids for the sale of a 2002 Toyota Tacoma.

- SR 7 Resurfacing: Begins April 28 from the Meigs County line to Church Road. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: July 15.
