We need to talk about Tater. This big ham is too good to still be waiting for a family. Tater is our longest resident who is physically living at the shelter–no one has asked to adopt or foster him.
Tater is the kind of dog that just wants to sit happily by your side. The kind of dog we’re lucky enough to have maybe once in a lifetime. Honestly, the dog that’s more than we deserve. Tater gives generous eye contact and just wants to hear that he is a good boy.
This is why it is breaking our hearts to see Tater waiting alone in the shelter. He is built for companionship, and each passing day makes him more and more stressed. Tater is a large dog and will need a confident handler. He walks very well on a harness and can jump when excited. But he responds immediately to feedback and calms down as soon as he is out of the shelter. Clearly Tater is also extremely good-looking, he has never taken a bad photo.
Tater enjoys the company of other dogs and rides like a gentleman in the back seat of the car. If you think this kind of ride-or-die is what you need, call the Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Tater.
If you cannot adopt, please consider fostering. You can fill out a foster application at: https://www.fosdathens.com/foster
