Janet M. Auer, 81 of Glouster, passed away Monday April 7, 2025, at her residence. Born April 26, 1943, in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Garnet Waldeck Trace.
She retired from the Ohio University School of Osteopathic Medicine. She was a member of the Corning Eagles. Janet enjoyed gambling. She was also an avid sports fan, particularly of the Trimble Tomcats, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Bengals.
She is survived by a daughter, Deanna Smith of Groveport; sons, Joie McDonald of Jacksonville, James (Cheryl) McDonald of Jacksonville, Jon (Marilee) McDonald of Glouster, Jeff (Lisa) McDonald; grandchildren; mother-in-law, Maxine Auer; special friends, Dave Milton, Anna Coffman, Susie Hellyer, and Sandy Dunkle; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by grandsons, Erick Auer and Ozzy McDonald; three brothers, Marvin “Sonny”, Jack, and Bob Trace; a sister, Jo Ann Tilley; and her father-in-law, Jim Auer Sr.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday April 11, 2025, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Jerry Marang officiating. A visitation will take place on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
