GLOUSTER- Roy James Azbell, 89, of Glouster passed away Friday afternoon, April 11, 1925 at Marietta Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Born December 9, 1935 in Athens County, he was the son of the late Roy Seymour Azbell and Mary Jesse Beitelschies Azbell.
A graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School, he was a “Jack of All Trades”. He was a union brick mason most of his life and had also worked for Kerr Distributing of Athens.
Roy is survived by four sons, Roy James (Christine) Azbell, Michael (Marla) Azbell, Craig (Karen) Azbell and Kevin Azbell; eight grandchildren, Royelle (Butch) Chapman, Jamie Lee Azvarado, Michael Azbell, Matthew Azbell, Samantha Azbell , Kara Lee (Koner) Standley, Morgan Caullin and Alec Azbell; nine great grandchildren; one nephew; and a special friend, Dolores “Wimp” Long.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death in 2020 by his wife of 60 years, Sharon Kimmel Azbell; a sister, Donna Azbell; a brother Charles “Skip” Azbell: and a great grandson, Tanner Barstow.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call Wednesday 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home for expenses.
