Dog of the Week: Carley

Carley is a sweet and spunky senior who is unfortunately looking for a new home after her owner passed away. When Carley first came into the shelter, she was shut down and obviously grieving the loss of her home and family. Since then, we’ve seen more of Carley’s personality come out and she is a goofy and friendly girl. She has also been a valuable tester dog, helping to assess the temperament of new dogs coming into the shelter.

It always hurts to watch senior dogs curl up in their shelter kennels when we know they would thrive in a home. After two months of waiting, Carley finally found a temporary foster home thanks to a caring community member. Carley has fit right in alongside her foster sibling. We learned that Carley is scared of thunderstorms and is indeed not good with cats–she has scared all of the neighborhood cats away. For cat-free homes though, Carley is just about perfect. Carley does have some health issues that we are following up on, including a heart murmur. We’re hoping to get her back to great health in time for her forever home.
