Steel is now the oldest dog living in the Athens County Dog Shelter. He came in this February after his owner passed away. Steel is believed to have been an outdoor dog and he came in looking the part with irritated skin, long nails, and very dirty ears. Thankfully these issues were mostly superficial, and his blood work indicated that he is otherwise in great shape.
In the shelter, Steel has been very affectionate with his handlers. He has become more shut down over time though and we can tell that the environment is hard on him. Steel has done well with some dogs but may want to be an only dog at this age. Any interested fosters or adopters would need to bring in their dogs for a meet and greet.
Despite what Steel has been through, he still gives the biggest smiles. Call the Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Steel.
