- Athens hydrant flushing: 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesday May 6: West State Street, North Lancaster Street, Fremont Street. Water may be discolored water by iron sediment stirred up from increased flow, but the water remains safe to use. The city recommends avoiding laundry until the water clears. - Free bus rides: Athens Public Transit and Athens On Demand Transit are fare-free for all riders through April 2026.
- Athens Township Spring Cleanup Day: Township residents may dispose of or recycle household debris only at either of two dumpster locations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 10. Call Ted Linscott at 740-707-5182 or Steve Pierson at 740-517-5467 for more information.

- Diamond Brick Road (CR 33B): One lane closed 7 a.m.–7 p.m. through Thursday, May 8, for work on the Nelsonville sewer project. The location of the closure will fluctuate between 17196 Diamond Brick Road and Dana’s Tire, near 751 W. Washington St.
- Chauncey: Closures continuing through the week of May 5:
- Nye Street is closed from Jacobs Street to Ellis Street.
- Ellis is closed at the Nye intersection.
- Ohio Department of Transportation:
- U.S. 33 and SR 682 roundabout: Traffic maintained by flaggers on SR 682. Right shoulder closed on U.S. 33 westbound. SR 682 ramp to U.S. 33 westbound closed April 1 through Aug. 1. Estimated completion: Oct. 31.
- SR 7 resurfacing: Meigs County line to Church Road. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: July 15.

- Gently used clothes for Cat’s Pajamas Clothing Swap: Accepted 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Sojourners Resiliency Center, 5 N. Shafer St., Athens, until Thursday, May 22. The swap will be held 5–8 p.m. Friday, May 23, and 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at Athens First United Methodist Church of Christ, 2 S. College St., Athens. All proceeds support SRC’s youth programming.
