Traffic
- City of Athens: Greenbrier Drive will be closed on Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30, from 8 a.m.–4 p.m. for water service line connections and a water main tie in.
- Jacksonville:
- Red Dog Road and High Street from Jacksonville corporation limits to Fifth Street will be closed daily from May 27 to May 30, 7 a.m.–5 p.m., with local traffic only after 5 p.m.
- South Eighth Street from Palmer to Railroad Streets; as well as West Palmer Street from Fourth and Fifth Streets will be closed from May 29 and May 30, 7 a.m.–5 p.m., with local traffic only after 5 p.m.
- Ohio Department of Transportation:
- U.S. 33 and SR 682 roundabout: Traffic maintained by flaggers on SR 682. Right shoulder closed on U.S. 33 westbound. SR 682 ramp to U.S. 33 westbound closed April 1 through Aug. 1. Estimated completion: Oct. 31.
- SR 7 resurfacing: Meigs County line to Church Road. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: July 15.
- Coolville RCUT: Construction begins on May 27 on U.S. 50 at Coolville. Lane closures will be in place in both directions.
Nelsonville
- Aquatic center opens: The 2025 summer season started Saturday, May 24. Nelsonville Aquatic Center, 40 W. Canal Street, Nelsonville.
- Nelsonville Dog Swim: Sept. 8, 4–7 p.m. Nelsonville Aquatic Center, 40 W. Canal Street, Nelsonville. $5 per dog.
- Feral cat TNR clinic: The City of Nelsonville is hosting a Trap Neuter Release clinic Wednesday, May 28, a program intended to keep the feral cat population under control. Athens County Humane Society volunteers will be setting live traps the evening of Tuesday, May 27. Please keep pets inside.

- Free car safety check-up: CarFit is offering 20-minute drive-through lessons for drivers to adjust mirrors, seat, seatbelt, and steering wheel in their vehicle for a better “fit.” Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait times, but drive-ups are welcome. - Outdoor drinking in Uptown Athens: DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) season in Uptown Athens is underway; hours are Monday through Saturday, noon–11 p.m.; Sunday, noon–8 p.m.
