SHADE- Anita Lorraine Powell, 80, of Shade went to be with the Lord Monday, June 9, 2025 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born February 20, 1945 in New Marshfield. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence H. and Georgia Maybelle (Dodd) Dowler.
Anita was a graduate of Waterloo High School and attended the Mineral Holiness Church. She was also a proud member of the Athens Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. Anita enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels; putting puzzles together, sewing, playing cards, her flower beds with her favorite flowers which were her Clematis and old fashioned rose bush, finding four leaf clovers wherever she went, traveling with her husband, and much more. She always put others before herself and always greeted everyone with a smile, even in her final days.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Chuck; children: Atina (Darrell) Hillen of New Marshfield, Anthony (Sherry) Mills of Athens, Michele Powell of Shade and Richie Powell of Chesapeake; grandchildren: Erica Hillen, Amanda (Tyler) Bell, Alisha (Andrew) Andrews, and Madalyn Dickerson; great-grandchildren: Joseph, Jordan, Zoey, Eden, Hadley, Stella, Wade, Lincoln, Kaycen and Jaxon; sister, Wendelyn “Sue” Porlier; and aunts, Carol Brooks and Bonnie Atkinson.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Twila Cable, Dennis L. Dowler, Loretta Dinsmoor, and Howard W. Dowler; and a granddaughter, Meisha Rae Dickerson.
A special thank you to Ohio Health Hospice, especially the Nurses Bob, Teresa and Mike; Chaplain, Jimmy; Caseworker, Tammy; Respiratory Therapist, Trevor; and Advocare Representative, Chad for all their kindness and punctuality during this difficult time.
