CHAUNCEY- Rita Kay Brown, age 80, of Chauncey, died Friday, June 6, 2025 at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born July 13, 1944 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Marion Schoonover and Ilene Blackford Schoonover.
A graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School and Hocking College, she was employed at the Athens Mental Health Center as Director of Medical Records. She was a foster parent and enjoyed crocheting, shopping, and jigsaw puzzles.
Rita is survived by her son, Kenneth Kastely of Columbus; her daughter, Angela (Randy) Hooper of Trimble; four grandchildren, Natasha Willis and her fiancé Benjamin Hatfield, David Willis, Jr., Lane Kastely and Tyler (Summer) Willis; three great grandchildren, Arla Dixon, Kennedi Willis and Brantlee Willis; special cousins, Susan Reed, Vicky Reed and Sherry Reed; and a special friend, Carol Campbell.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Reed; and two brothers Edward Schoonover and Don Schoonover.
