NELSONVILLE, Ohio –– Grace L. Koon, 65, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital in Athens. She was born on October 18, 1959, in Nelsonville, a daughter of the late Paul and Mildred Burnice Haladay Lash. She took great joy in spending time with her family, cherishing moments with her grandchildren. Her love of gardening was evident in the care she devoted to her flowers. Animals held a special place in her heart, and she was a dedicated supporter of the ASPCA.
She is survived by her husband Gary J. Koon; daughters Larissa Koon and Jasmine Koon; sons Brian Koon and Adam Koon; grandchildren Laylah, Mylah, Cullen, and Seth; a great grandchild, Kayson; a brother, Michael (Diana) Lash; and sisters, Lynn (Jim) Daggett, Judy Oliver, and Phyllis (Bruce) Carter.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Shad Koon; a great granddaughter Kylah Koon; a brother Paul Lash; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Oliver.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, 6525 S. SR 78, Glouster, with Pastor Mark Mitera officiating. Interment will take place in the Koon Family Cemetery in Millfield. A visitation will take place on Friday from noon until the time of the service.
