Traffic
- Ohio Department of Transportation
- SR 682 sewer line project: Project ongoing between 3rd Street and 4th Street; temporary signals in use. Estimated completion: Nov. 10.
- U.S. 33 and SR 682 roundabout: SR 682 at U.S. 33 open with flaggers. The right shoulder is closed on U.S. 33 westbound. Right lane is closed on U.S. 33 eastbound. Off ramp from U.S. 33 west to SR 682 closed. Use the non-interchange exit for Chauncey then turn right onto North Plains Road. Estimated completion: Nov. 28.
- U.S. 50 RCUT: Reduced-collision U-turn construction is taking place on U.S. 50 at Coolville. Lane closures are in place in both directions. Estimated completion: Nov. 30.
- U.S. 33 Athens-Meigs expansion: Lane closures will be in place in both directions on U.S. 33 between Pleasant Hill Road and Oxley Road through Friday, Nov. 7. Rolling roadblocks will be in place during rock blasts. Estimated completion: 2028.
- City of Athens
- Sight distance improvement at Madison Avenue: Madison Avenue will be closed from the intersection of East State Street to approximately 50 feet north of the intersection for construction to improve vehicle and pedestrian sight distance. Estimated completion: Friday, Oct. 31.
- County Road 69 (Chase Road): A portion of CR 69 (Chase Road) will be closed for full depth repairs between the intersections of Alexander Township Road 44 (Sandusky Road) and CR 17 (Fisher Road), daily 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Estimated completion: Friday, Oct. 31.
- Nelsonville
- Resurfacing and concrete repair: Taking place in both directions on Old U.S. 33 at East Canal Street, West Canal Street, West Washington Street, Burr Oak Blvd., and Happy Hollow Road. Lane closures in place. Traffic could be detoured. Estimated completion: Friday, Oct. 31.
- Hocking Parkway on game days: Parkway will be closed to traffic between both ends of Loop Road 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Nov. 8 during a 2025 Hocking College home football game. Please avoid this area and use an alternative route.
- Albany
- Hebbardsville Road bridge: Athens County EMS announced Sept. 12 that unforeseen structural issues will cause a potential six-month closure of the bridge at Hebbardsville Road (CR 17A) at the Fisher Road intersection (CR 17).
General
- Casa Nueva and Blue Eagle Music guitar giveaway: Beginning Nov. 1, Casa Nueva customers can enter daily for a chance to win a black Dean Vendetta guitar; closing party Nov. 30 is a “plug in to win” competition. Game rules and more details through link.
- Veterans invited: Athens City School District invites veterans who are family members of Athens Middle School students to participate in its Veterans Day Celebration, 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12. RSVP via email to ahall@athenscsd.org or send a note with your AMS student that includes veteran’s name, student’s name, branch of service, medals, etc.
