ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio – The League of Women Voters of Athens County is hosting two informational sessions ahead of the spring Primary Elections. The scheduled events include:
Athens City Proposed Income Tax Town Hall
7 p.m., March 31, 2026 at the Athens Community Center, rooms A & B.
The proposed levy is an income tax (additional – 0.2%, commencing 1/1/2027) providing funds for safety services (Police and Fire Departments), general municipal operations, street improvements, capital improvements and transportation.
- The Athens City Mayor, a City Council Representative, City Auditor and City Treasurer are invited to participate.
- This event will be live streamed and available for later viewing on the City of Athens Government channel and the League’s Facebook page.
Ohio House 95th District Democratic Primary Candidate Forum
7 p.m., April 6, 2026
- Candidates Paul Cameron and James Joyce will participate.
- This event will be live streamed and available for later viewing on the League’s YouTube channel and the Facebook page.
For both events, the public is invited to submit questions to athenscountyasks@gmail.com prior to the event. Questions must be related to the elected position or the issue and be received at least 24 hours prior to the event. Questions will also be taken in person at the Athens City Income Tax event.
