Dog of the Week: Smidge

, ,

Sweet Smidge just wrapped up her second week in the shelter and honestly she is not a fan. It’s loud and overwhelming and there just aren’t enough adventures outside. Smidge wears signs of previous neglect, including missing fur and uncertainty on the leash. But each day, she is making progress and now we’re starting to see glimmers of her real personality.

The day Smidge came in, she found comfort crawling into the lap of a volunteer. These days, she shows off her love of stuffies, and her ability to sit and shake. On the leash, she makes good eye contact, waiting for her handler. Where Smidge really lights up though, is outside. Her tongue rolls out and a huge smile appears when she sees the killdeer flying. Free grass for snacking is an added bonus.

We think Smidge might be part bulldog, both because of her pocket sizing and because she wears out quickly in the heat. She is probably not a great fit for cats, but she is willing to entertain dog siblings. Smidge has the most darling, smooshy face that you really have to see in person. Want to see for yourself?
