Martha Antle

ATHENS, Ohio – Martha L. Antle, a lifelong Athens County resident, passed peacefully April 15, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family, as she went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born August 7, 1936.

She was an avid walker who loved the sunshine and spent many years cheering on her husband and children in motorcycle and foot races. She enjoyed playing the trumpet in the band, following her favorite football team, reading, gardening, and planting flowers each spring. She especially treasured watching wildlife from her kitchen window and relaxing on the porch with her family.

She graduated in 1954 from Chauncey Dover High School where she played in the band and met her future husband, Bob. Bob and Martha made their home on 40 acres in a house Bob built. Martha dedicated her life to raising her four children and caring for their home. They were married for 70 years.

She served the Lord at Concord Church and Christ Community Wesleyan Church, where she was a member.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Elizabeth James; her husband Bob Antle; her sons, Tom and Ron Antle; a brother, Byron James, a sister, JoAnn Koska.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Henry) Woods; her son, Tim (Krista) Antle; her two daughters-in-law, Sheila (Tom) Antle and Terese (Ron) Antle. She has nine grandchildren: Michael (Maria) Antle, Lindsey (Olly) McAuley, Carly (Bilal) Tai, Joseph Antle, Christina Hupp, Chelsie Meredith, Jacob, Maralee, and Grace Antle. She has nine great grandchildren: Britini Duda, Damen and Alyssa Haning, Skylie and Dolan Antle, Layla, Olivia, Crosby Schmidt, and Oziah McAuley. Additionally, she has two great-great grandsons Brently and Braxstyn Haning, and a great-great granddaughter Evelynn Talarovich.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21 at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor Josh Fakhoury officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Ames Township. riends may call Monday, 4-6 p.m. and Tuesday at 10 a.m. until time of service, both at the funeral home.
