AMESVILLE, Ohio – After bravely enduring several years of illness, Larry passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Larry grew up in Cleveland and Amherst, Ohio. He lived in Colorado and Maine before returning to Ohio and finding his way to Amesville, serving on the village council prior to his illness.
Larry attended Kent State University until May 1970, later earning his degree in education at Ohio University. He was a talented silversmith and avid BMW motorcyclist and meticulous restorer, riding for almost 60 years. He held several teaching positions but was proudest of his time at Hocking Valley Community Residential Center, Nelsonville, Ohio.
Never known to go slowly from one point to another, Larry traveled the country on a variety of motorcycles, seeking off-beat and classic roadside Americana. He was his daughters’ on-call mechanic. A voracious reader, he was a competitive adversary when playing games, particularly poker and Yahtzee. His family loved him and they were his heart. They can’t imagine a world without his tales of hitchhiking across the country, car and motorcycle mishaps, and adventures with friends.
Larry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lisa Pritchard Kamody, daughters Lenore Lahm (James Lahm), Alexandra Kamody (Willie Perkins), Morgan Prouty-Berger (Landon Berger), Tess Kamody (Chris Sessoms), and Madelyn Kamody, and grandchildren Kalli Jarvis, James and Alexander Lahm, Jonathan and Leo Perkins, and Owen and Reid Berger. Larry is also survived by his brother Steven Kamody and his wife, Colleen, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends whom he treasured.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother Lou Kamody, father Edward Kamody, and sister Carol Tillotson.
The family wishes to thank the many kindnesses of family, friends, and neighbors during his illness. Also Dr. Margaret Lionberger and Shriver’s Hospice, who helped Larry pass peacefully on to his next adventure.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Village of Amesville park fund or your local public library.
Please join the family in a celebration of Larry’s life Saturday, May 23, 3–6 p.m. at Village Productions, 16 State St., Amesville, Ohio. Feel free to bring a dessert to share.
Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
