Dave Richards

David Michael Richards, 78 of Glouster passed away Monday May 18, 2026, at his residence after an extended illness. Born September 24, 1947, in Glouster, he was the son of the late Norman and Gladys Sikorski Richards.

He was a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was formerly employed by Carborundum in Logan and by Trimble Local Schools. Dave was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Glouster Moose, and American Legion Post #414. He enjoyed sharing breakfast at Home Plate and lunch at Dairy Queen with many of his good friends. He also loved attending sporting events to support area athletes. He spent many years training and racing quarter horses and thoroughbreds with his family. He also coached football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, and softball, from little league through varsity. He actually coached three generations of football to one family.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Haskins Richards; two sons, Stanley and Rusty (Heidi); three grandsons, Ryan (Tianna), Bryce (Brianna), and Reiston; bonus grandson, Gavin Richards; a great grandson, Zaiden; three bonus sons, Dennis Orsborne, Brian Orsborne, and Ray Lent; brothers, Paul (Barbara), Stanley, Phillip “Tom” (Vickie), Charles (Ann), Stephen “Al” (Leeann); sisters, Joanna, Marilyn, and Mary “Memi”; sister-in-law, Sara “Linda” Richards; and many loving relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents; a brother, Leo; sisters, Rita and Josephine “Foo”; a granddaughter, Raylinn Richards; and many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to HomeReach Hospice for all of their care during Dave’s illness.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday May 21, at the Bishopville Church of Christ with Rocky Exline officiating. A military service will be conducted by the United States Army and the Combined Color Guard Unit. Visitation will take place from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
