ATHENS, Ohio – P.E.O. Chapter DD in Athens announces scholarship recipients for the 2026-2027 academic school year. The Chapter DD scholarships are awarded to local women of all ages who are enrolled in accredited colleges/universities. This year the local chapter awarded a total of $16,400 in scholarships to 16 area students.
Chapter DD scholarships are made possible by the following funds: Chapter DD of Ohio P.E.O. Foundation Scholarship, Constance Sands Memorial Scholarship, Elaine Venen Dabelko Scholarship, Guinther-Kiser-Johnston Nursing Scholarship, Marilyn Lamont Skinner Scholarship, and Marjorie Ann Whiteford Malcom Scholarship.
The following recipients each received a scholarship from the local chapter including Rilynn Fouts of Glouster and Katie McKinney of Nelsonville, both will be attending Hocking College studying health science and dental hygiene respectively. Lillian Paris from Athens will attend The Ohio State University to major in computer engineering and Madilynn Stein also from Athens will attend Ohio University majoring in theater performance.
Additional recipients include Claire Abraham from Nelsonville. Claire will continue her studies at Hocking College majoring in nursing and Delaney Dean from Carbon Hill attends Hiram College to study art and design. Each of the following students from Athens attend Ohio University including Wynne Dodrill majoring in biology and Abigail Sanders majoring in nursing. Charlotte Shafer of Glouster majors in biology and Abigail Shriver of McConnelsville is majoring in journalism, both attend Ohio University. Olivia Tabler from Chesterhill continues her nursing studies at Kent State University.
Scholarship recipients Tatum L’Heureux of Nelsonville and Emaline Duquette of Athens both attend Ohio University. Tatum is majoring in psychology and Emaline is majoring in communications. Kyleigh McWilliams from New Straitsville will continue her studies in architecture at Miami University and Brooklyn Gerity of New Marshfield attends Bowling Green University majoring in art history. Kathryn West of Albany is a student at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

To date, the National P.E.O. Sisterhood has awarded $462 million in financial assistance. It also owns Cottey College, a fully accredited, private liberal arts and sciences colleges for women, with two-year and selected four-year programs, located in Nevada, Missouri
The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded Jan. 21, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is an international philanthropic and educational organization which promotes increased educational opportunities for women. There are nearly 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with almost 230,000 initiated members.
