NEW MARSHFIELD, Ohio – Thomas L. “Tom” Zimmerman, 81, of New Marshfield, died Thursday evening, July 2, 2026 at his home. Born October 3, 1944 in New Marshfield he was the son of the late Leonard “Red” Zimmerman and Flossie Davis Zimmerman.
A graduate of Waterloo High School, he was employed as a dispatcher with the Ohio University Police Department. He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge. Tom enjoyed gardening, travel, CB Radios, AM Radio Shows and auctions. He was a lifelong member of the Democratic Party. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and even with his disability his motto was “Help Others”.
Tom is survived by two daughters, Tracy (Tony Touvelle) Zimmerman Llewellyn of New Marshfield and Wendy (Michael) Zimmerman of Athens; a son, Tom (Amber) Zimmerman of New Marshfield; twelve grandchildren, Ashley (Brannon) Alkire, Kristen (Brent) Wolfe, Zachery (Dylan Weaver) Zimmerman, Megan Llewellyn, Levi Zimmerman, Morgan (Charley Whitley) Llewellyn, Bradley Zimmerman, Haley (Faith Dinnin) Zimmerman, Rob Llewellyn, Timothy Zimmerman, Tyler Llewellyn, Bryson Carrier, and Kenzie Zimmerman; four great grandchildren, Elliott and Hudson Wolfe and Ryder and Landon Alkire; a son in law, Tim Zimmerman; and a lifelong friend, Jessie Walker.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Mingus Zimmerman, who passed away June 23, 2019; a daughter, Becky Zimmerman; and a brother, Conrad Zimmerman.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of OhioHealth Home Care and Hospice for the excellent care Tom received.
Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Gary Alton officiating. Burial will be in Canaanville Cemetery, Canaanville.
