- Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
- Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
- Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
- Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day and take frequent breaks if you must work outside.
- Never leave children, older adults, or pets unattended in a vehicle.
- Check on neighbors, friends, and family members, especially older adults and those with medical conditions.
- Know the signs of heat-related illness, including heavy sweating, dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion, or fainting. If you suspect someone is experiencing heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
