ATHENS, Ohio – Maynard Timothy “Tim” Williams, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at his home in Rockbridge. He was born in Hemlock (Perry County), Ohio on April 18, 1941 to the late Paul M. Williams and Lota Mae (Fouts) Williams.
Tim was a graduate of The Plains High School in 1959 where her earned eleven varsity letters, four in football, three in baseball and two each in basketball and track. He also received All League Honors five times and was inducted in the Athens Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. Tim entered the U.S. Army in 1959 and was a graduate of the Army Redstone Missile Electronic Maintenance School. Upon completion of his tour of duty in 1962, he attended Ohio University and Hocking College where he received a degree in Engineering Technology. He retired from American Electric Power (Poston Plant) and Abbott Laboratories in Columbus in 2004.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan. He was a 62 year member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM. He was also a member of Athens Chapter 39 RAM, Athens Council 15 R&SM, Athens Commandery 15 KT, and Athens Chapter 175 Order of Eastern Star.
Tim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice (Goodman) Williams; two sons, Michael T. Williams of Ocala, Florida and Patrick J. (Amy) Williams of Logan; and three grandchildren, Lindsay, Zachary and Timothy.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Michele; a brother, Wayne; and a sister Joan.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev. Jeffrey Ott officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens. Friends may call 4–6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM will hold Masonic services 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by K.T.
