ATHENS, Ohio – Ronald Colin Jutton, 84, of Athens died Sunday evening, August 30, 2026 (his birthday) at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born August 30, 1942, in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Colin Grant Jutton and Ruth Myrtle VanWormer Jutton.
He was a graduate of Gary Indiana High School, Cedarville College and Wright St. University with a Master’s Degree in Education. He was a school teacher. He taught at several schools including Nelsonville Christian School, Belpre Christian School and a Christian school in Brazil during a Church Mission trip. He was a member of South Canaan Baptist Church. He was active in the music program at church serving as director of the church choir and the church quartet. He enjoyed music, playing the trombone and was a model railroad enthusiast.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a Corpman. He received the Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Tawn Wright Jutton: a daughter, Elizabeth (John) Ives of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Phaelan, Gavin and Esther Ives; a sister in law, Lessa (Roger) Gilders of Athens; a brother in law, Greg (Cheryl) Wright of The Plains; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, at South Canaan Baptist Church, Athens with Rev. Monte McCune. Burial will be in South Canaan Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 2 p.m. until time of service at the church. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Military Rites will be conducted by the Honor Guards of K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion and VFW Post 9893 at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Canaan Baptist Church, 17506 S.
