MILLFIELD, Ohio – Sheila Ann Smith, 75, of Millfield, died early Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026, at her home with her family. Born September 9, 1951 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Walter Brown and Pauline Bolin Brown.
A graduate of Athens High School, she was employed at BBF Restaurant, O’Bleness Memorial Hospital and retired as a custodian from Ohio University. She was a member of Airline Church of Christ. She enjoyed attending Bingo events.
Sheila is survived by three granddaughters, Kari Lowery of Portsmouth, Jessica Whitmore of Glouster and Caity Brown of The Plains; four great grandchildren, Lucille & Lillian Lottridge and Roger & Ryder Whitmore; a special niece and her husband who were Sheila’s caregivers, Samantha & Jay Winchell; a brother Dan Brown of Millfield; a sister in law, Sandy Brown of Millfield; two brothers in law, Warren (Debbie) Smith of Reedsville and Leroy Smith of Millfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Oris Smith, who passed July 10, 2026; her daughter, Terri Brown; a twin sister, Sharon Smith; and a brother, Jim Brown.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Buckeye Hospice, and the care team of Katlyn, Josie, Brandie and Heather.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, officiated by H. Willard Love, Minister. Burial will be in Cherry Ridge Cemetery, Bedford Twp., Meigs County. Friends may call 11 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.
