ATHENS, Ohio – Robert Edwin Hixson, 70, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Athens, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at his home. Born August 16, 1956, in Athens, he was the son of the late Fred & Beverly Bennett Hixson. He was raised in Athens and had lived in Columbus for twenty eight years.
A 1974 graduate of Alexander High School, he was employed at Meigs Mine 1, Auston Powder Company and as a Security officer. He enjoyed horses, horseback riding and barrel racing. Spending time with his family was very important to Rob. He also enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores.
Rob is survived by his wife of 51 years Kathy Falkenstein Hixson; two children, Greg (Stephanie) Hixson and Chris Hixson; three grandchildren, Gregory (Haley) Hixson, Kaydence Hixson and Adara Hixson; a brother, Rick (Jackie) Hixson of Albany; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Gary Hixson; and a granddaughter, Kaitlynn Hixson.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor Larry Swart officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, Hebbardsville.
