THE PLAINS, Ohio – My name is Amy See, and I am the Operations Director at Southwestern Recovery in The Plains. I wanted to personally invite your team to join us for our 6th Annual SOCTOBER Community Resource Event next Friday, October 16, 2026!
SOCTOBER began six years ago with a simple goal: bring community resources together in one place, making it easier for individuals and families to connect with the services and support available to them. What started as a small community event has continued to grow, and this year is shaping up to be our biggest yet!
Event Details:
Friday, October 16, 2026
11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Southwestern Recovery 70 N. Plains Rd., The Plains, OH 45780
This year’s event will feature:
- Village of Resources – More than 20 community organizations representing healthcare, mental health, addiction treatment, prevention, workforce development, and other essential services.
- NEW! Touch-a-Truck – Featuring emergency response vehicles, law enforcement, community service equipment, and more.
- The Village Closet – Free clothing and household essentials for individuals and families.
- Family-friendly activities, music, giveaways, and community connections.
Our theme, “It Takes a Village,” reflects what SOCTOBER is really about—organizations coming together, breaking down barriers, reducing stigma, and strengthening our community.
We would love to have someone from your newspaper stop by, experience the event, meet some of our community partners, and help us share the positive work happening right here in Southeast Ohio.
If your team is interested in covering the event beforehand or attending on October 16th, I would be happy to provide additional information, photos, or coordinate interviews. Check out more on our FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/SouthwesternRecovery
Thank you for considering our invitation. We hope you’ll come see what our Village is all about!
