ATHENS — Luella Jean Beal, 98, of Athens died Monday, March 13, 2023, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus. Born Oct. 11, 1924, in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Basil A. Minerd Sr. and Audrey Lonas Minerd.
She was a longtime area resident and had resided in Columbus where she worked at Riverside Methodist Hospital and was a school bus driver. She was employed at Odd Lots in Athens for several years.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Linda Fetty of Florida; a son, Bob (Elaine) Beal of Centerburg; a daughter-in-law, Jeannette Beal of Toledo; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Donna France; and a brother, Gary (Peggy) Minerd of North Carolina
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Burly Beal, who died in 1998; a son, James Beal; a sister, Shirley Fender; and six brothers, Richard Minerd, Larry Minerd, Earl Minerd, Basil Minerd, Jr., Charles Minerd and Roger Minerd.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Foster officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
