ATHENS, Ohio — Ned Wayne Jones, a proud United States Army veteran, was welcomed into heaven on November 2, 2023. Born 76 years ago on March 9, 1947 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, he began his adventures as a “Boy from Bulltown,” which he authored chronicling his various endeavors. A modern day Renaissance man, Ned did everything with exuberance, grit, and drive. He was the proud founder of Twin Oaks Refrigeration and worked there daily until his last retirement in 2012.
Ned was cherished and loved by his wife of 56 years, Debbie. Together they traveled the world and made a difference to anyone they met. Ned was a proud dad to 5 children, Dawn (Jerry) Green, Tabitha (Andy) Bond, Joshua (Katja) Jones, Michelle (Christopher) Jackson, and Michael Jones (Louis Andrade). He was always ready for an adventure or story with his 11 grandchildren, Gabby, Wes, Emily, Aaron, Allison, Kyle, John, Hayley, Tommy, Mackenzie, Justin, Andy, Cameron, Lillian, Trenton, Marissa, and Viktoria. Also, his 10 great-grandchildren, Karsen, Kalum, Weston, Bryson, Amelia, Eliza, Annie, Myles, Waylon, and Baby Fox. Poppy will always be our greatest adventure.
Ned will also be missed by his siblings Jane White, Barbara Kelley, Noreen Jones, Mary Beth (William) Yaeger, Bonnie Travis (Joe Busby), Ralph (Patricia) Jones, and Pam (Michael) Cox, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Greeting him in heaven are his parents, Ralph and Mary Jane Jones, brother Clair Jones, brothers-in law Howard Kelley and Paul White, special nephew Eric Jones, many family members and dear friends.
Ned fought his battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia valiantly, and as his family we lost him to the disease, but he has now won. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate to the Alzheimer’s foundation (Alz.org) in his honor. His final arrangements have been managed by Jagers and Sons in Athens, Ohio, and Conner-Westbury in Griffin, Georgia. The family would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to his granddaughter, Emily Howell and the care team at Ohio Home Health Hospice. To honor his wishes, there will be a celebration of his life at a later date.
Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com. Ned was a generous man, always sharing a great story or laugh. As you remember him, be kind, turn up a favorite song, and dance.
